1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible (Restomod) VIN Number: 136670B199012 Mileage 1912 (Since total restoration) Color: Red with Painted White Stripes Engine: 6.2L LS3 w/6-Speed Manual 3RD PARTY EVALUATION: My evaluation and appraisal is based on 43 years dealing with classic cars in both restoration and sales. The value is also based on Hagerty Valuation tool, and similar cars for sale and that have sold recently in Hemmings Motor News, and Mecum International Auctions. The Chevrolet Chevelle is a Mid-size car that was produced by Chevrolet in three generations for the 1964 through 1977 model years. The Super Sport version was built through 1973 when it was replaced with the Lagunas from 1973-1976. The first generation was from 1964-1967 second from 1968-1972 and third from 1973-1977. In 1970 487,969 Chevelles were produced, that included 45,923 that were built in Canada, of those only 7,141 were V8 convertibles. Interior: The white vinyl interior is mostly original and in overall good condition. Dakota Digital gauges replace all the factory gauges in the original gauge cluster. Vintage Air controls replace the factory controls on the dash. The tilt steering column has billet turn signal arm and tilt arm and the three spoke steering wheel is new. The radio is a factory looking AM-FM Stereo. The sill plates are new reproduction and the entire window felt and door seals are new. The dash pad need some adjusting to fit properly. Exterior: The body work is straight and the red paint was laid down very well, the white stripes are under the clear coat. Fit and finish is also good on all areas of the car except the front headlight bezels. The SS emblem in the grill looks original because it has some pits in the chrome. The rear bumper chrome is good and the SS rubber is a little discolored but in good condition for being original. The front bumper has a few areas with rust starting. The 17 Cragar wheels are in excellent condition and the Firestone Firehawk tires are as well (2022 fr and 2023 rr dated codes). The dome hood is the standard hood on the SS and does not have the cowl induction. The trunk is spatter painted with a rubber matt, no jack or spare, battery is relocated to trunk mount. All the glass is good no chips or star cracks in windshield. Engine: The original engine was replaced with a new LS3 from GM. The LS3 crate engine is rated at 525 HP and 489 FT. The cold start was good and when at operating temp the oil pressure was 45 PSI. The engine compartment is very detailed and sanitary. Every bolt has been replaced and all parts are new. The engine headers are HPC coated, the brackets and pulleys are billet. The intake, valve covers and radiator support are carbon fiber; the aluminum radiator has two electric fans and a billet overflow tank. The brake booster and master cylinder are chromed and the hood hinges are billet with gas shocks. No sign of seepage, leaks or flaws. Suspension and chassis: The frame has been blasted and painted or powder coated in all areas. The front and rear suspension has Hotchkis tubular control arms, coil over shocks and sway bars with drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners. The custom stainless exhaust exits under the rear bumper with the correct SS exhaust tips. No sign of leaks or seepage on 6 speed manual transmission or 12 bolt rear end. Custom fuel tank has internal pump with filler in original location behind tag.
